Save a Few Bucks on your Birthday Party Printing Costs

Wednesday, June 27th, 2007

As reasonably priced as my Birthday Party Games Lady kids party packages are, there’s no getting around the fact that they require printing and that takes ink. And the printer companies have very astutely applied the razor blade business model: practically give away the printer and then charge through the nose for the ink. OUCH!!

Did you know that many printer cartridges can be easily re-filled? It’s relatively simple to do and well worth the effort as it costs significantly less than buying new cartridges every time you run out of ink. Since I run my business from home and have 2 kids in school, my printer gets a pretty hefty workload, and I’ve been using the same $30+ bottle of black ink for almost a year! Before I started re-filling my cartridges, I was using 1 black ink cartridge a month, at over $30 each. The savings have been huge. Colored ink can also be refilled, but it’s not quite as cheap.

Not all printers have refillable cartridges, but it’s definitely worth checking to see if yours does. I use inksell.com for my Lexmark printer, but they also offer ink products for many other printers. Or, you can search for “ink refills” and you’ll find many other on-line suppliers. My ink shipments have always come right away so maybe you can even start saving on your ink in time for printing your birthday party game package.

Why a Birthday Party Blog?

Tuesday, June 26th, 2007

I get way more feedback from parents after their Birthday Party Games Lady party than I can put on my website. I know from talking to my clients that they find this feedback valuable, so I’ve created this blog to share it with my website viewers. It will be organized by the specific party that the feedback refers to or in the ‘Parties’ category where it’s not specific to one particular party. I do hope you find it helpful.

I’ll also be sharing my philosophy about kids’ birthday parties, and sometimes even my philosophy about kids in general. As questions come up from parents that might benefit others, I’ll answer them. Feel free to post questions or comments.

It’s gratifying to help busy parents get through their child’s birthday party smoothly and easily, but the best part is hearing how much fun the kids have. Mine are older now and past these simple pleasures of childhood. I miss it.
