We had the exact same problem with a group of 10 year old girls- and yes, it just took one girl to say "this is boring". We had them make ribbon sticks and it was "boring"until we told them that they could use them to make up their own routines and that we would video them. They worked hard on their routines and loved watching themselves on TV! Problem solved. The same strategy could work for these parties- make their own episode of Survivor!
